Christina Landing Promenade

Wilmington, Delaware
Client: Delaware Department of Transportation

Overview

Designed a publicly accessible waterfront for Christina Landing urban development, making an urban waterfront and connecting to a 22-story luxury residential high rise with spectacular city and river views. The project gives residents a chance to enjoy public green spaces and to have public waterfront access to the Christina River.

Firm Accomplishments

  • Planned a 1/2-mile-long riverfront promenade to link Market and Walnut St. Bridges with a safe, pedestrian-friendly walkway adjacent to the Christina River making this previously inaccessible waterfront publicly accessible.
  • Coordinated with the adjacent parcel developer.
  • Designed the promenade with the project engineers to include shoreline stabilization via a new bulkhead, contaminated soils clean-up, entertainment structures and plazas, railings, extensive paving design, lighting, and plantings in raised-granite planters.

The above Phase II was completed by Oasis Design Group. An Oasis principal was the lead designer and project manager for an earlier Phase 1 while at a previous design firm.
